About Me
Dr Yvonne Osafo DPsych Psych, CF
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
As a doctor of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, I work with a wide range of life issues, with clients at every stage of life, from pregnancy to adulthood: babies, children & adolescents, adults, couples and families and elderly clients. My specialisms are parent-infant psychotherapy, child & adolescent psychotherapy, parenting, fostering and anxiety.
One in four adults and children suffer from mental health issues. Whatever your background, there is no shame in seeking help. I offer counselling and psychotherapy that is always confidential, personal and non-judgemental.
I am a UKCP accredited parent-infant psychotherapist. I work with parents-to-be and parents of babies up to 24 months (the first 1001 critical days of life). Through parent-infant psychotherapy I can help you to strengthen the relationship with your baby and give you an opportunity to talk through your worries about your baby. Looking after a baby can be challenging and at times stressful. Sometimes past experiences might affect the infant-parent bond. We can think together about how your past experiences might be affecting you now. I also offer training and supervision for professionals and have conducted parent-infant psychotherapy research in order to develop best practice in this field of work.

My work is currently based at two organisations: Croydon Best Start Parent-Infant Partnership, where I am the Clincal Lead, and at West London Action for Children, where I take a lead in early intervention within a cross-modality team of therapists. I also teach parent-infant psychotherapy and supervise infant observation seminars at Terapia Institute of Psychotherapy
I sit on the boards of the United Kingdom Counsel for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Faculty for the Psychological Health of Children and the UKCP College for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
I bring over 35 years of pastoral experience and training to my therapeutic practice.
